Emergency Broadband Benefit

NeuBeam is participating in this FCC program which is intended to help households that have struggled to pay for internet service during the pandemic. Before applying for the program, please note that the EBB Program will end when the government fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.

At the end of the program, existing customers will no longer receive the $50 discount, while new customers who participate will need to opt-in to continue receiving our services. Households choosing to continue receiving service after the end of the EBB Program will be billed the general rates for the package they previously selected.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit will provide a discount of up to $50 per month towards broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on Tribal lands. NeuBeam will also offer to eligible households a one-time discounted desktop computer for $20, or a laptop for $49.99, while supplies last. The EBB Program will be limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

Who is eligible for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program?

A household is eligible if one member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

  • Has an income that is at or below 135% of the  Federal Poverty Guidelines or participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, or the Lifeline program;
  • Receives benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision, or did so in the 2019-2020 school year;
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year; or
  • Experienced a substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020 and the household had a total income in 2020 below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers.

Consumers must apply for the Emergency Broadband Benefit themselves; NeuBeam is not permitted to apply for them.

Maryland has launched Connect Maryland, a transformative new initiative to supercharge the State of Maryland’s broadband investment with a total new investment of $400 million to fully address the digital divide. To receive assistance, Maryland households must already be approved for service under the FCC’s Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program. The Maryland EBB Program offers an additional $15/month, so when combined with the FCC Program, households can receive a total discount of $65 per month for up to 12 months. At the conclusion of the 12 months, households will continue to receive a $50/month discount for as long as the FCC Program lasts.
